Description of play
5 Card Stud begins when the dealer deals out one card face down and one card face up to all the players. The player sitting to the left of the dealer begins play. If the game contains a bring-in then the player with the lowest rank of his upcard must pay it and if there are more than one player with the same ranked low cards then suit rankings will come into play. If the game is being played without a bring-in then the player with the highest upcard ranking will begin the betting round. If more than one player contains the same ranking then the player to the closest left of the dealer begins.
Once the first betting round has completed then the dealer deals another face-up card to the players. The player whose hand makes the best poker hand will begin betting, and the player who acts first on betting rounds thereafter may bet up or check the games limit. The next betting round is followed by the third upcard and third betting round. The fourth face-up card is dealt during the fourth betting round and a showdown follows if it is needed.
