Origin of Omaha Poker

Omaha hold 'em or just Omaha is a lot like Texas Hold'em in that it is a Community Card Poker Game. The main difference however is that in Omaha Poker a player can choose out of 9 cards to create a good hand.
All players are dealt 4 cards and in using two of those cards given must make the best possible hand along with 3 of the 5 Community Cards. Omaha's origin is not yet known, all that is for certain is that Robert Turner who was a Casino Executive introduced the game to Bill Boyd who presented Omaha as a Casino game to the Golden Nugget Casino in Las Vegas which changed its name to Nugget Hold'em.

Starting a Game

The game begins when the two players who are sitting to the left of the dealer posts a Big Blind and a Small Blind where the value is determined by how high or low the stakes are in the game. Each poker player gets dealt four pocket cards. The player sitting to the left of the Big Blind will begin the betting round, and all remaining players need to decide whether to call, fold or raise.

Second Round
After round one has completed 3 cards are place on the table face up. The player sitting to the left of the dealer button will begin the betting round and he/she needs to decide whether to bet or check.

Third Round
In round number 3 a fourth communal card is dealt and yet another round of betting will proceed.

Fourth Round
The last Communal card is dealt which is called the river and is then proceeded by another betting round.
Each player needs to make the best possible hand using their 3 communal cards and 2 of their 4 pocket cards.
